Company History

1978 - Swintec Corporation is founded in Miami, Florida; it starts with eight employees and a line of electronic calculators.

The 80's - Swintec moves to a 50,000 square-foot New Jersey headquarters; it introduces its first line of electronic cash registers and it's first electronic typewriter the 1146CM. Other typewriters are added to the line, including models with memory and parallel ports for use as computer printers. The company is named to the INC. 500 as one of America's fastest-growing privately-held companies.

New typewriters enter the Swintec line, including display-based typing systems and wide-carriage models, as the company is awarded the largest single typewriter order ever given by the U.S. Government. Swintec also receives the Single Source Award Contract from the Federal Government and is rated the #1 Typewriter Vendor by the readers of both "Office World News" and "Geyer's Office Dealer." The company continues to expand, moving into a new 50,000 square foot headquarters and opening its eighth factory distribution center in Ontario, Canada. Swintec's record growth is documented by four consecutive appearances on the INC. 500 list.

Capturing Federal Government Single Source Award Contracts and top honors in the National Office Machine Dealer Association (NOMDA) survey, Swintec achieves the number two position in office typewriter unit placements. New product lines include copiers and fax machines, while modular typewriters and new typing systems are also debuted.

The 90's - Swintec offers consumers the option of product leasing as several new typewriters, world processors, and calculators are introduced. A special dealer promotion called S.H.O.P (Swintec Home Office Program) is launched and two new factory distribution centers are opened in Edmonton, Canada and Mexico City, Mexico. Swintec debuts its new SF 1200 series and SF 1050 series fax machines, as well as a complete line of electronic cash registers. A special leasing program for a new high-volume plain paper fax machine, the Laser 300, is promoted in one of Swintec's three national television commercials airing on Cable News Network (CNN) and Headline News. Swintec products are also featured as prize giveaways on national TV game shows, including Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy

Praise for Swintec and its products continues as the Model 7040 is named the "Most Outstanding Text Editing Electronic Typewriter of the Year" by Buyer's Laboratory, and the company is again ranked the #1 Typewriter Vendor in a nationwide survey of office machine dealers. Adding to dozens of past awards from NOMDA Dealers, Swintec garners consecutive Gold Medals for "Best Overall Distribution Policy" 1992 and 1993. -Seven additional industry awards from 1994 - 1995 lead to Swintec being named     "Manufacturer of the Year" in 1996. New product introductions include a line of paper , a    multifunctional laser fax/copier, several new cash registers, calculators, and typewriters. Swintec Fact, Distribution Centers are awarded the distributorship for the Minolta Small Business for Products Center or the United States. This partnership gives dealers the ability to fully market Minolta's Segment I product line of copiers, in addition to other products such as Minolta multifunctional fax machines. In 1997, the Swintec Website goes on-line and the company again captures a U.S. Government Single-Source Award Contract for electronic typewriters.

The 00's - Swintec redesigns their web site and enhances it to become commerce enabled.  They also plan the launch of a new site dedicated to their dealers at Swintec.com/EARN.
