Company History

1978 - Swintec Corporation is
founded in Miami, Florida; it starts with eight employees and a line of electronic
calculators.
The 80's - Swintec moves to a 50,000 square-foot
New Jersey headquarters; it introduces its first line of electronic cash registers and
it's first electronic typewriter the 1146CM. Other typewriters are added to the line,
including models with memory and parallel ports for use as computer printers. The company
is named to the INC. 500 as one of America's fastest-growing privately-held companies.
New typewriters enter the Swintec line, including display-based typing systems and
wide-carriage models, as the company is awarded the largest single typewriter order ever
given by the U.S. Government. Swintec also receives the Single Source Award Contract from
the Federal Government and is rated the #1 Typewriter Vendor by the readers of both
"Office World News" and "Geyer's Office Dealer." The company continues
to expand, moving into a new 50,000 square foot headquarters and opening its eighth factory
distribution center in Ontario, Canada. Swintec's record growth is documented by four
consecutive appearances on the INC. 500 list.
Capturing Federal Government Single Source Award Contracts and top honors in the National
Office Machine Dealer Association (NOMDA) survey, Swintec achieves the number two position
in office typewriter unit placements. New product lines include copiers and fax machines,
while modular typewriters and new typing systems are also debuted.
The 90's - Swintec offers consumers the option
of product leasing as several new typewriters, world processors, and calculators are
introduced. A special dealer promotion called S.H.O.P (Swintec Home Office Program) is
launched and two new factory distribution centers are opened in Edmonton, Canada and
Mexico City, Mexico. Swintec debuts its new SF 1200 series and SF 1050 series fax
machines, as well as a complete line of electronic cash registers. A special leasing
program for a new high-volume plain paper fax machine, the Laser 300, is promoted in one
of Swintec's three national television commercials airing on Cable News Network (CNN) and
Headline News. Swintec products are also featured as prize giveaways on national TV game
shows, including Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy
Praise for Swintec and its products continues as the Model 7040 is named the "Most
Outstanding Text Editing Electronic Typewriter of the Year" by Buyer's Laboratory,
and the company is again ranked the #1 Typewriter Vendor in a nationwide survey of office
machine dealers. Adding to dozens of past awards from NOMDA Dealers, Swintec garners
consecutive Gold Medals for "Best Overall Distribution Policy" 1992 and 1993.
-Seven additional industry awards from 1994 - 1995 lead to Swintec being named
"Manufacturer of the Year" in 1996. New product introductions
include a line of paper , a multifunctional laser fax/copier,
several new cash registers, calculators, and typewriters. Swintec Fact, Distribution
Centers are awarded the distributorship for the Minolta Small Business for Products Center
or the United States. This partnership gives dealers the ability to fully market Minolta's
Segment I product line of copiers, in addition to other products such as Minolta
multifunctional fax machines. In 1997, the Swintec Website goes on-line and the company
again captures a U.S. Government Single-Source Award Contract for electronic typewriters.
The 00's - Swintec
redesigns their web site and enhances it to become commerce enabled. They also
plan the launch of a new site dedicated to their dealers at
Swintec.com/EARN.
Additional product lines including laser printer supplies for a
variety of manufacturer's models as well as printers and
multifunctional machines from Ricoh and digital copiers from Minolta are made
available. Swintec continues to maintain their strong
relationship with Federal, State and Local Governments through
successful contract negotiations.
